Matt Miller, President and CEO joined NxtWave Communications in November 1997. Miller has held numerous management and technology positions including vice president of Technology at General Instrument Corporation from 1988-1994. During that time, he pioneered the development and deployment of digital television systems, fiber optics as applied to cable television, and cable modems. Miller also founded General Instrument's Integrated Systems Center, which was a 30-person custom VLSI design group. From 1994 to 1997 Miller was a venture capital industry consultant. He has served as a director of several public and private technology companies. He holds a B.A. degree in Physics from Harvard University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Physics from Princeton University.
Geoff Phillips, Chief Operating Officer, joined NxtWave Communications in September 1999. Prior to joining NxtWave, Phillips held a number of senior management positions including vice president of the Signal Processing & Telecom Product Line at Intersil Corporation (formerly Harris Semiconductor). From 1975 to 1981 Phillips served as a design engineer at Plessey Electronic Systems and The University of Liverpool. Phillips graduated with honors from Newcastle-Tyne Polytechnic in the United Kingdom with a B.S.E.E. Phillips is a published author of numerous papers on the application of DSP in digital communications. He is also a member of the I.E.E. (UK), and the I.E.E.E.
Mike Nilsson, VP of Sales, has 18 years experience in the semiconductor industry, having held positions in engineering, marketing, and sales at National Semiconductor Corporation and Fujitsu Microelectronics. He has been responsible for the sales of ASIC, SCSI, microprocessor, microcontroller, networking, wireless, display, and memory products. Prior to joining NxtWave, Mike was a Director of Sales at Fujitsu Microelectronics. His experience includes managing direct sales teams, sales representatives, and applications engineers. He has also directly managed major international and US accounts. Mike holds a BA from Stanford University.
Ken Sielatycki, VP Finance and Administration, was a consultant to NxtWave in 1997 and joined the Company in his current position in February 1998. He was a founder and principal at Falcon International, a consulting firm specializing in business strategy formulation, planning systems and merger and acquisition services, a business in which he was engaged since 1992. Before founding Falcon, he was a director of corporate planning and acquisitions at General Instrument Corporation from 1986 to 1992. Sielatycki held several accounting and financial management positions with SCM Corporation from 1977 to 1986. He earned a B.B.A. degree in Finance and a MBA from Kent State University.
Chris Strolle, VP Chief Scientist, was head of the Video Communications Group within the High Definition Imaging and Computing Laboratory in the Information Systems Research Division of Sarnoff Corporation (formerly Sarnoff Laboratories). Strolle specialized in video signal processing, communications systems modeling and design, and the behavioral level and architecture specific modeling of DSP algorithms. At Sarnoff, he led the development of numerous leading edge technologies. He is the architect responsible for the QAM and VSB technologies licensed by NXTWAVE COMMUNICATIONS from Sarnoff Corporation. Strolle holds more than 30 U.S. patents and has been the recipient of several awards for papers presented at international conferences. He has a B.S.E.E. and an M.S.E.E. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mike Gittings, Director of Worldwide Marketing, is one of the founders of NxtWave Communications. Since he joined, Mike has held several engineering, sales and marketing positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to NxtWave, at General Instrument Corporation, he was responsible for a number of innovations and industry firsts; 256QAM digital set top, wireless digital set top, single chip upstream digital modulator, and a patent for cable modem technology. From 1983 until 1994, Mike was a pioneer in TELCO echo canceling modems, ISDN, Portable Satellite transceivers, and terrestrial receivers at RCA/General Electric. Throughout his career, he earned a number of Managers and General Managers Awards. Mike received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering where he graduated with honors.
